Friendly Band
About Us
Many of the bands which exist in the area today can trace their origin well into the last centrury, and one of these is the Friendly Band, which dates back to 1868.
A Proud History
Founded in 1868, Friendly Band has been at the heart of the village of Friendly for over 150 years. We are proud of our heritage and continue to uphold the tradition of brass band music, bringing joy to audiences near and far.
A Self-Supporting Band
Unlike many bands, we are entirely self-funded, with no sponsorships or external financial support. Our members work hard year-round, performing across Yorkshire and beyond. We are available to hire for a wide range of events, including weddings, birthdays, concerts, corporate functions, and community celebrations. Whether you need a full band or a smaller ensemble, we can tailor our performance to suit your event.
Rehearsals & Opportunities
We rehearse twice a week:
🎵 Tuesdays: 19:30 – 21:30
🎵 Fridays: 19:30 – 21:30
Our repertoire covers a variety of musical styles, and we welcome musicians of all levels. If you’re interested in learning a brass instrument, we offer instrument loans for players of all ages. Additionally, members who join the band receive free instrument and uniform loans.
Our Bandroom
Located in the heart of Friendly village, the two-storey building includes:
- An upper floor bandroom with a large space, a separate kitchen, and toilet facilities.
- A lower floor with a smaller meeting room, kitchen, and toilets.
Charity Status & Gift Aid
We are delighted to have been granted charitable status by the Charity Commission. This allows us to maximise donations through Gift Aid. If you would like to support us through Gift Aid, please get in touch with our Secretary for a Gift Aid form.
💙 Thank you for supporting Friendly Band and helping us continue our musical legacy!
